... Is going to be a hybrid. Surprised? We're not. As you may have read in our older post about electric/hybrid supercars, Nissan decided to join by making an R36. It was confirmed by James Oliver, Nissan's sports car chief in Britain, after an interview with BBC's Top Gear. I think it is the obvious direction. There's been obsessive development of the GT-R over the years, and at some point we will move onto the next generation car. The overall market is looking at different methods of powering cars, and at Nissan we've got great expertise and investment of electric. " According to him, Nissan has the capability in terms of battery production and electric vehicle technology, so he does not think that a hybrid GTR will be too hard to make and design. Unfortunately, he cannot reveal the specs of the new R36. All we know is that it will be faster than the current R35.
